[attr="class","infoh"]Physical Attributes
[attr="class","infoc"]Brigitte was blessed with her mothers figure, having plenty of curves to go around, though very little muscle mass to accompany them. Her face consists of soft angles and rounded edges, accompanied by deep dimples and plush lips she apparently inherited from her father. She has a mostly clear complexion, her olive skin denoting her Rivaini heritage, and bright green eyes the sharply contrast the rest of her. It has been years since she has allowed anyone to cut her hair, the result ending in long, thick strands that reaches just above her rear, though she will often up it up somehow to get it out of the way. She has no obvious scars, and her soft, uncalloused hands betrays her cushy upbringing. Brigitte tends to walk with an unintended sway to her, and she's good at commanding attention when she wants to, though she is not intimidating by any means. [attr="class","infoh"]Personality
[attr="class","infoc"]Brigitte has always been a sweet girl, having a naturally gentle nature to her that is typically seen as nonthreatening. She talks softly, walks lightly, and upon first meeting her she appears to be a “proper” lady. Of course, this facade was cobbled together to appease her mother more than anything else, and she is not nearly as poised as she wants people to think. Gigi strives for perfection, having deep seeded insecurities planted inside her from a young age thanks to her upbringing that sprouted and grew into a more toxic view of herself. She craves approval, but often hides behind snarky remarks or a mirror of indifference so people don’t realize just how dependent she can be. She had the luxury of a good education growing up, and is quite intelligent, though most of it comes from books opposed to real life experience. She likes to assume the best of people, being a little naive about how the world works, but she isn’t a total idiot either. She won’t be following any strangers into dark alleys, at least not willingly, and has enough paranoia and sense to not to trust everything someone tells her. She’s a smart enough girl to get herself out of most situations with just words, not being a particularly violent person, both disliking feeling and inflicting pain, unless it is absolutely necessary. She’s good at reading people and responding to them accordingly, weaseling her way out of unsavory situations with graceful ease. Due to years of tuning out her mother, she has fallen into the habit of ignoring people without even meaning to. Her mind tends to wander even when it seems like you have her full attention, having difficulty focusing when someone is talking to her, particularly when it’s about something she doesn’t care for. Brigitte will normally try to play it off like she was listening the whole time, which has lead to awkward situations in the past. Above all else, Gigi is driven primarily by her own emotions, and while she can mask them well her decisions are usually based off what she's feeling opposed to logic. This causes her to make rash choices, and she has a bad habit of making snap judgments about others as well, which she tends to stubbornly hold onto until proven wrong. Despite that, Brigitte is very people oriented, and will protect her friends and family fiercely. Sure, she may complain about them, and even hold disdain toward them, but she doesn't take others insulting them lightly and can become quite defensive of anyone that dares to try and smear their names. [attr="class","infoh"]Background [attr="class","infoc"]Brigitte’s conception was a rather unusual and scandalous affair that occurred during a party. Her mother, Désirée, was charmed by a younger Rivaini noble, and their…activities lead to a subsequent pregnancy. It wasn’t until she attempted to confront the same noble to her predicament that she realized she had been tricked—he had been much too old to be the same man she had spent the night with, and claimed to have never even attended that evening. Whoever she had spent the night with was almost certainly not a noble, and even worse the more she recalled of him the more it seemed like he was part of a less than reputable gang. With that knowledge, she conceded to raise the baby by herself, not wanting to associate with criminals, assuming he’d even want to be part of the child’s life. Her parents did not approve of this, thinking the whole affair to be shameful, but let allowed their daughter to stay nonetheless. Nine months later Désirée had a healthy baby girl who was very obviously of Rivaini descent, and despite the less than ideal circumstances, she loved Brigitte very much. She was a quiet, but seemingly happy baby, never causing her mother much grief, and that soft nature stuck with her as she grew into a toddler. Brigitte was considered to be the family shame, typically kept out of any social gatherings, and spent much of her time alone or with only the servants to look after her. While Désirée did not like her daughter being treated like a terrible secret, she was not willing to sacrifice the comfort and security her parents provided, so she allowed it. This charade continued for years, though the nobles were aware of her existence, but she was rarely ever seen or mentioned. It did not bother Brigitte when she was younger, after all the servants were nice to her, and she even took a specially liking to one specifically. So much so that she had started calling her mama instead of Désirée, a habit that was quickly curbed out of the servants fear of being fired because of it. Still, they took pity on the little girl, going out of their way to play with her when her real mother was too busy entertaining guests or trying to find herself a husband. Désirée was not the best mother by any means, much too young and unprepared for a child, and she would often get frustrated with her daughter, especially once she got a little older and garnered more agency over herself. The constant questions, attention seeking, and overall bad behavior was more than she could handle, practically throwing the torch at the servants and subsequently forcing them to raise her. She was not uncaring toward Brigitte, but she was definitely clueless, and did not have the right temperament to be a single mother. It was not all bad though, Gigi still getting a full education and practically anything she asked for (though as she got older, she suspected it was only because her mother felt guilty), but life was still dull. Her grandparents barely engaged with her, and while her mother did try to find more time for her as they both got older, they were still distant. The efforts seemed to be too little, too late to form a real connection. The boring routine continued until she was twelve years old, and then all of the sudden her mother was getting married and they were finally moving out of their grandparents home, the only home she had known for years. It wasn’t so much the moving part that bothered her, she had long grown to despise the estate, but leaving the servants behind was hard. They were her family after all, or at least the only family she had known growing up. Brigitte had begged her mother to bring them with, but the answer was a firm no, and no matter how much the girl had argued seemed to change that. This made the move all the harder, feeling resentment toward her mother and her new husband, though he had done nothing wrong. Francois Héroux was a nice man though—he had thick blonde hair, clear blue eyes, and a dazzling smile that she imagined her mom had fallen head over heels for. He didn’t view Gigi as a burden or a black mark upon the family, and treated her kindly enough, not making her hide away like she had for so many years. It was…unsettling for the girl, so used to being background, and now suddenly feeling like she was shoved into the thick of it. The unfamiliar surroundings did not help make her feel at ease either, and she became even more withdrawn, her interactions with others polite as best. On top of that Francois often tried a little too hard to be seen as a parental figure to Brigitte, his attempts at bonding normally ending awkwardly with neither of them knowing how to proceed. After her initial anger had died down, she decided she didn’t dislike him by any means, but she was a naturally reserved person and was having trouble coping with all the sudden changes, even if they were generally positive. Her mother mistook the hesitancy for ungratefulness, constantly badgering her daughter to try harder and not be so cold, but all that did was put an even bigger wedge between them. A year and a half later, Brigitte had a baby brother and sister, named René and Georgette respectively. She felt surprisingly relieved to have some of the attention taken off of her for a while, everyone fussing over the twins and leaving her alone for the most part. The female spent most of her time in the garden or reading, rarely attending social gatherings unless her mother made her. She still liked Francois, but their relationship hadn’t really changed much. She was respectful toward him, but it was obvious she did not see him as a real father figure, not that her relationship with her mother was much better. If anything, it was worse, the two constantly bickering…or at least Désirée did. Gigi had taken to just agreeing with everything the woman said, finding it to be less painful than actually trying to have a conversation with her. As the twins got older, she couldn’t help but feel a little envious, after all they got to have a proper childhood. While her mother was still not the most ideal maternal figure, age had tempered her and she had much more patience, and Francois was surprisingly loving and attentive toward them. Once again, Brigitte felt like the outcast, though both René and Georgette seemed to adore her nonetheless. Her curiosity about her own father was piqued once again, and much to her mothers dismay, she began asking about the man. Désirée was reluctant to talk much about the Ravaini male, but Brigitte was persistent and eventually her mother started to open up, though not without the help of some wine first usually. Unfortunately, it did not seem like she knew very much, not even having a first name to go by. The information was enough to start a search though, not that Gigi had originally planned to do any such thing, but hostilities in the household seemed to grow between mother and daughter. The decision was finalized when her mother took it upon herself to try and find Gigi a suitor, the girl showing no interest in any of them—Désirée assumed she was being stubborn out of spite, and another fight ensued between them, but this time it was the final straw. Exasperated and feeling suffocated by her own family, she ran away from it all with a goal in mind. She wanted to find her father, whether he was dead or alive (though she hoped for the latter). |
